As if 1 shooting weren't enough, NYPD reported that a 2nd shooting had occurred at the midtown nightclub, LQ (Latin Quarters) around 3am early Monday morning. In 2008, NY Giant NFL player Plaxico Buress shot himself in the same nightclub when his gun accidentally discharged striking himself in the leg. Consequently, he served nearly 2 years in prison for weapons possession and reckless endangerment.
Although the incident this past Sunday is still under police investigation, we do know that a male patron was shot in the stomach over an argument pertaining to a female guest. It's unclear wether they knew each other or how the shooter may be related but the 25 year old man who's identity was not released was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition and is expected to survive. Further information about the shooter had not been released but the weapon was found at the scene and reportedly "stolen from Virginia in 2008".
At this time, the investigation continues as police review the clubs surveillance tapes.
Although the incidents are not related to one another it does raise the question as to wether the nightclub should do more to tighten their security to ensure the safety of its patrons and staff.
